Cancer Trials Nurses and Data Managers

Cancer Trials Nurses and Data Managers are an integral resource in the conduct of clinical trials. A key initiative of the clinical trials program has been in providing resources for the conduct of cancer clinical trials in NSW. The Cancer Trials Nurses and Data Managers Grants are providing funding for the placement of staff necessary to support cancer clinical trial-related activity in NSW.

The positions funded by the Cancer Trials Nurses and Data Mangers grants have been established by the Cancer Institute NSW and The Cancer Council NSW, with the funding streams (Clinical Trials Nurses and Data Managers Grants, Clinical Trial Unit Establishment Grants and Cancer Trials NSW) consolidated into a single program.

Clinical Trial Unit Establishment Grant Recipients

The Clinical Trials Unit Establishment Grant, provide the support needed to establish clinical trials activity that will assist in increasing patient participation rates in cancer clinical trials. The grant is funding the placement of clinical trial nurses and data managers within NSW. This funding stream was developed to meet the needs of newer and smaller clinical trial units throughout NSW in establishing trial activity. Cancer Trials NSW

Cancer Trials NSW is a program established by The Cancer Council NSW in 2001 and transferred to the Cancer Institute NSW from 1 July 2006. Successful clinical trial units receive funding to employ 0.5FTE clinical trial nurses and data managers to assist in the operation of trials at each centre. This program has been consolidated with the Cancer Institute NSW funding programs for nurses and data managers under the NSW Cancer Trials Network.
