Notice of Consultation Forum
The Cancer Institute NSW Supportive Care Program Concept Consultation
The Cancer Institute NSW is holding a consultation forum to discuss the draft Supportive Care Program, developed in response to the 2007 Cancer Patient Satisfaction survey results “areas for improvement” and "low levels of satisfaction".
The details of the forum are:
DATE: Tuesday, 14 October 2008
TIME: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
LOCATION: Room 9BC, Australian Technology Park, Bay 8, Level 1, Eveleigh
The forum will be structured around the following four program components:
1. Nursing fundamentals (“Essentials of Care” Program, in consultation with the Nursing and Midwifery Office, NSW Health)
2. Distress Screening and identification of referral options (within and outside the Area Health Service)
3. Patient Information Pathway (a web based hyperlinked pathway)
4. Effective interaction (i.e. patient-centred communication).
Comments are also welcome in regard to a further potential program:
5. Area Health Service Cancer Survivor Volunteer Program
The aim of the forum is to gain feedback from a range of stakeholders, in particular cancer health service staff that would play a role in supporting and implementing the Program, or specific components, supported by a Cancer Institute NSW grant and resources.
AHS staff should register their interest with their Cancer Service Development Manager. Spaces are available for up to six staff per AHS.
Other stakeholders (not employed by an AHS) are asked to register their interest directly with the Cancer Institute NSW by 5pm, 30 September 2008 by Fax or by email. If you wish to register please click here. ![]()
