Optimising Care for Patients with Head and Neck Cancer Forum - 16 October 2009

NSWOG Head and Neck hosted 200 cancer professionals at the Optimising Care for Patients with Head and Neck Cancer forum
on Friday 16 October 2009. The program and presentations were aligned to all aspects of the patient journey – from signs, symptoms
and referral pathways to palliative care, with emphasis on practical strategies to manage the side effects of treatment.

NSWOG Haematology Oncology Allied Health Education Day - 10 September 2009

Allied health professionals form an integral part of a multidisciplinary approach to the management of patients with haematological
malignancies. The aim of the NSWOG Haematology Oncology Allied Health Education Day was to provide an educational opportunity
for allied health professionals to update their knowledge of haematological cancer.

Consumer and Community Training Workshops 2006 and 2009

The Cancer Institute NSW recognises the important contribution consumer representatives make to the outcomes of the NSW Oncology Group (NSWOG) and Cancer Institute NSW committees, and provides training in order to provide an interactive learning opportunity for consumer/community representatives and update them on the work of the Cancer Institute NSW.

Brain Tumour Support and Education Forum - 28 October 2008

120 patients, carers, families and health professionals attended the NSWOG Neuro-Oncology Brain Tumour Support and Education Forum, to hear leaders in the field describe the complex patient journey in simple terms - from surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy to research and rehabilitation. The day also featured inspirational stories from patients and carers, which included Marcella Zemanek.

Gynaecological Cancer Clinical Forum - Meeting the Needs of Women with Ovarian Cancer - 17 October 2008

The GMCT Gynaecological Oncology (GO) Network and the Cancer Institute NSW held a joint one day forum to discuss and demonstrate the ideal multidisciplinary care GO patients should receive. The day also featured the launch of the Clinical Best Practice Gynaecological Cancer Palliative Care 2008 document.

Palliative Care Basic Research Development and Design Workshop 2008 - 4 March 2008

An initiative of the Palliative Care Clinical Trials and Research Subcommittee of NSWOG Palliative Care, this workshop was aimed at clinicians within palliative care who are starting research or considering it in the future. The workshop included presentations and panel discussion from a number of senior researchers covering a broad range of topics including: beginning your research project, existing major research programmes, grantmanship and developing a proposal.

Lung Cancer Clinical Forum - November 2007

Held in November 2007, the Lung Cancer Clinical Forum, an initiative of NSW Oncology Group (NSWOG) Lung, was designed to identify opportunities to improve the provision of healthcare delivery to patients with lung cancer.

New South Wales Oncology Group Cancer Plan Workshop 2006

In order to gain input from key clinical stakeholders into the creation of the NSW Cancer Plan 2007-2010, a consultation workshop was held with key NSWOG members, to critically review the overall strategic direction of the Cancer Institute NSW.
