Excuses Campaign

Image from new Excuses TV commercial

The Excuses Campaign 1, 2 and 3 encourages smokers to put quitting on “today’s agenda” by tackling common excuses for delaying quitting.

The key message of the series: Quitting is hard…but you’re not alone. The television commercials remind smokers that help to quit smoking is just a phone call way to the Quitline 13 78 48.

Results from Excuses Campaigns 1 and 2 showed that the campaign series has been successful in achieving its objectives:

  • Nine out of 10 smokers in NSW had seen the earlier Excuses television commercials
  • Two-thirds agreed that it reminded them of the dangers of smoking
  • Three out of four smokers who saw the advertising perceived it to be believable
  • Just under half found the advertising to be very relevant.
