Significance of the Cancer Institute NSW for NSW Health

The Cancer Institute NSW will coordinate and build on existing efforts in cancer control throughout the State. It will foster the free flow of information and collaboration between patients, clinicians, researchers, government agencies and the non-government sector, and will foster links with interstate, national and international cancer bodies. The Cancer Institute NSW will identify opportunities for innovation and facilitate the incorporation of these into the health system.

The Cancer Institute NSW will play a major role in improving access to cancer services for cancer patients including these who live outside Sydney with the view to ensuring patients have equitable access to the best possible treatment and care.

The Cancer Institute NSW works collaboratively with NSW Health to ensure a comprehensive, integrated approach to cancer control throughout the State.
