The Quality and Clinical Effectiveness Advisory Committee
The Quality and Clinical Effectiveness Advisory Committee is a statutory committee of the Cancer Institute NSW consisting of experts in quality of cancer services, clinicians, representatives of the Area Health Services, the NSW Department of Health and the public. The Committee meets four times a year, reports to the Cancer Institute NSW through the Chief Cancer Officer and receives secretariat support from Cancer Institute NSW officers in an ex officio capacity. The terms of reference for the Quality and Clinical Effectiveness Advisory Committee are to:

Provide advice on the strategic principles to be applied to quality, clinical effectiveness, accreditation and the reporting of cancer outcomes for clinical cancer services.

Provide advice on the reporting of key indicators within the context of “worlds best practice”.

Recommend the information systems and data requirements for routine reporting of quality and clinical effectiveness indicators.

Provide advice on the Cancer Clinical Services Framework implementation and compliance within the Area Health Services.

Provide advice on the strategic principles to be applied to quality and effectiveness of cancer prevention initiatives.

Provide advice regarding key quality and clinical effectiveness for other Cancer Institute programs as requested.

Provide advice regarding accreditation of clinical services, screening services, research programs, education programs, information programs, fundraising bodies and other programs in cancer control in NSW.

Identify high priority quality initiatives and reports for inclusion in the NSW Cancer Plan and make recommendations by May 1st each year.

Recommend processes, evaluation and accreditation of other aspects of cancer control as requested from time to time.
